Lake Sevan is the biggest lake in Armenia covering 5% of the country surface. The lake has also become the preferred tourist destinations for two reasons: the exotic appeal of Armenia and the landlocked beauty of Lake Sevan.
The rare geographical location of Lake Sevan offers some of the best views of the world. At more than 1,800 meters above sea level, you’ll feel you can see the end of the world if you stand on one of the hills. Recent works around the lake has revealed 2,000 year old artifacts which makes the area an interesting place archaeologists and historians.
The northern area of the Lake Sevan is home to tourist friendly beaches in the country. Century-old monasteries surround the lake, the most famous being Sevanavank monastery which initially was located on an island but due to the fall of the water level turned it into a peninsula.
