Spa is a small town in the east central region of Belgium. But even with its size, Spa is one of the top tourist attractions of the country due to its healing springs. Highly accessible from Brussels through train, visitors only need two hours of travel time from the country’s capital to Spa.

Since the 14th century, locals and tourists visit Spa because of the remarkable hot springs. The word “spa” means something relaxing simply because of the town’s popularity as a health and wellness destination since the end of the Middle Ages. Historically, Spa is also known as the main headquarters of the German army during the First World War. It is also the town where delegates from different countries meet to start armistice which officially ended the war.

Aside from its hot springs, Spa is also known for its close affiliation to racing. Spa is the home of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamp and the race track is known for hosting the annual F1 Belgian Grand Prix.

Because of Spa’s location within the rocky mountain chain of Ardennes, natural hot springs are everywhere. Some of the hot springs is now part of popular health centers in Spa while there are public springs for everyone to enjoy the relaxing and healing waters.

Finding accommodation in Spa is very easy. Most of the popular spa centers offer packages were tourists can enjoy the relaxing hot springs, healing massages as well as modern amenities that easily rival some of the best hotels in the world.
