Many places in the world are advertised now as excellent places to travel. The main reason for this is that these countries have been affected heavily by the global economic crunch and as a result they have become far more amiable to the idea of making vacations as cheap as possible.

The classic example of this in the current economic crisis is Iceland. Iceland was voted recently by the United Nations as being the best place in the world to live and almost overnight it changed from a paradise into a place with massive unemployment. They are not in a good situation and in a desperate attempt to get their economy up and running they have offered some amazing rates for people to take advantage of.

This is good, but there are some considerations that need to be made here. The first is whether visiting a country in economic turmoil is necessarily a good idea. For a country like Iceland it probably is, but there are other countries where economic and political turmoil tend to go hand-in-hand. These are countries you would like to think twice before visiting as a cheaper vacation is not worth potential personal safety problems that come along as a proviso. Travelling globally means understanding the connections and this is one connection that tourists sometimes miss.
