It is being celebrated all the days of July and it is celebrated with a grand parade on the 17th of July.

Coming to Kyoto during this time would give you a better glimpse of the life of the people in Kyoto, Japan and how they enjoy their festivities. Festivals are always the best times to visit a country or a city as the whole city gets to celebrate and welcome tourists like you.

The 3 nights before the big parade there is this thing they call as yoiyama where the downtown area is only for the pedestrians and there are different stalls on the streets where you get to buy different types of Japanese foods such as takoyaki, skewers and so much more. There are Japanese candies and delicacies too. You will also find the traditional dress of Japan, the kimono worn by girls and they hold a traditional paper fan too.

You’ll also notice that some houses open their doors for everyone to visit and see their valuables. This is not to invite thieves but it’s a tradition here in Japan known as Byobu Matsuri. It’s a great way to see through the lives of the residents.
