Why does Timbuktu become synonymous to a far away place or the end of the world?

Well, as it turns out Timbuktu is just considered this because no word about the place was ever recorded not until 1828 and because it’s not that easy to reach this place although they now have an airport to brag. People used to travel by riverboat here and it usually takes days before they reach Timbuktu.

The best way to enjoy Timbuktu is to hire a travel guide. They are not expensive at all and they can guide you to all the tourist destinations in Timbuktu. Check out Djingeureber Mosque from the 14th century and their brick buildings. You’d truly feel privileged to this beautiful place and you could even brag to your friends that you have actually been to Timbuktu and back!

You can prove to your friends and family that you actually went to Timbuktu by having a passport stamp that will cost you just around $4. Visit a local police station and they’d be glad to stamp your passport with the Timbuktu stamp.

Timbuktu is still typically an African land and you can enjoy some camel rides here as well. Enjoy their exotic taste and traditional music. It’s fairly cheap here too so you don’t need to bring in lots of money just to move about.
