Lebanon is one of the Middle Eastern countries that have been ravaged by war for the past few years. Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, has been greatly affected by the conflict since it has driven out businesses and prevented tourists from coming back.
But Lebanon’s quick recovery from the troubling wars has been remarkable. In fact, the US Government still has a travel advisory against Lebanon even though Beirut is back on its tracks. Businesses are back and tourists from Middle Eastern and European countries are coming in. The competitive pricing of vacation in Lebanon has attracted tourists even in recession.
If you’re still concerned about your safety but wanted to get the best of Lebanon, stay in Beirut or particularly, Northern Beirut. Southern Beirut used to be the area where Israel and Hezbollah have been fighting but repairs in the area have been implemented as well.
Even though you’ll be limited in places to visit, there are still remarkable structures located in this part of Beirut. The Roman Bath House is a must visit for every tourists as this was just recently found by archeologists. There’s also the Greek Orthodox Church which was built in 1767.
As peace and stability is slowly coming back to Beirut, so is the nightlife. The Gemmayze district in the city is full of shopping malls, coffee shops and restaurants that are open past midnight.
