The 9th Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship is taking place at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, recently crowned as the favourite UAE golf destination, as recognized by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.

The owners of both Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is doing something right, as international inbound tourism has sky-rocketed in the past year, with Saadiyat Beach Golf Club receiving 94% growth compared to the same period in 2013, while Abu Dhabi Golf Club reported gains of 56% YOY.

Director of Club Operations at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Paul Booth, responded to questions about the courses’ success, saying, “We concentrate on what we can control, which is giving visitors the best experience possible.

We are blessed with such a stunning location and Gary Player has created something truly unique, that we are fortunate to be able to promote such a strong property. With two superb hotels in The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Villas on site and a dedicated focus on bringing in international business, we feel we are on track and are already looking at how we can improve on 2013.”

The unprecedented growth of Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club may be due to a number of factors, one being that regular reports of positive business shifts have been recorded by both clubs.

A second being that the tourism initiative, largely driven by the government, known as Golf in Abu Dhabi, has applied the in-house sales knowledge and expertise from global golf trade shows to encourage confidence with tour operators and draw consumers to Abu Dhabi golf, and particularly to Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.

Both clubs offer unique layouts and exceptional service. Saadiyat Beach Golf Club highlights the spectacular natural beauty of Saadiyat Island, with stunning views of the sparkling blue waters of the Gulf, bordered by dazzling white sand beaches.

The course, with its Gary Player design and strict environmental guidelines, is the first beachfront course of the Arabian Gulf. The course design plays off its unique natural environment and provides great variety at every hole, each of which has been designed to accommodate all golfing levels, from beginners to champions.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club prides itself on Middle Eastern luxury. Located in the middle of the desert, Abu Dhabi Golf Club is an oasis, a getaway, featuring 27 Championship Holes over 162 hectares of land. The rolling course is lined with palms, trees and shrubs, and includes seven saltwater lakes.

The newly renovated Clubhouse overlooks the course and is constructed in a falcon shape, fanned wings over the greens 9 and 18.Both courses are operated by Troon Golf, the industry leaders in golf management, famed for their impeccable course presentation and conditioning, as well as their extraordinary hospitality.

Troon Golf also works hard to strategically direct the clubs’ business, in order that they are profitable. The company was selected in 2007 by TDIC and has played a significant visionary role for TCA Abu Dhabi, TDIC and the entire region.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship is presently taking place, with some of the world’s top players competing, including Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Phil Mickleson, and Henrik Stenson.
