Getting the best of Gibraltar

Located in the southernmost part of Europe, Gibraltar is a small British colony at the tip of southern Spain. With a population of less than 30,000, this island has attracted tourists from different European countries because of its natural beauty and historic structures that withstood the tests of time.

Gibraltar provides the best of everything. St. Michael’s Cave is a haven for spelunkers as this cave have been popular since the Roman era. This cave is part of the numerous caves you could visit in Gibraltar. What made this cave different is the massive stalactites and stalagmites.

The Gibraltar Museum should not be also missed. Although it is like most government owned museums wherein they show the lives of the locals, the collections of different artifacts that were found in the territory is very impressive. The most interesting object in the museum is the Neanderthal skull which was found in 1848. It is the first Neanderthal skull found in Europe and was found in Gibraltar.

Since Gibraltar is a very small territory, getting to know the area is very easy. There are guided tours available in different hotels around territory that will take you to different interesting areas in Gibraltar.

Of course, no one should miss the beaches of Gibraltar. This small territory has five beaches – all of them open for tourists with different lodging options. Aside from the scenic beaches, various water sports, whale and bird watching are also very popular and have enticed tourists to go back to Gibraltar every year for their summer destination.
