Discover an ancient place – Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is one of the most popular tourist destinations of South America. It’s actually said to be the site of the ancient city of the Incas. It is located just near Cuzco, Peru.
Actually, Machu Picchu was discovered just in the 20th century, particularly in 1911 but they say it was only “rediscovered”. Machu Picchu is a thousand feet above the river of Urubamba and it’s the end point of the Inca Trail. It’s also now a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There are lots of places to see in Machu Picchu and you can travel around the site by bus but it’s best that you wake up early so you would get the first bus that runs before 6 in the morning. In Machu Picchu, whether you have a tour guide or not, make sure you visit the Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana, the Main Temple, the Temple of the 3 Windows and Condor.
Of all these places, Condor is the most intriguing. They would say Condor is a temple but others say that it really is just a cover-up of what it really was. If you look closely you’d really be able to figure out that Condor is not at all a temple but a place for brutality! Interesting, huh?
Machu Picchu is not a cheap travel destination but it’s perfect to visit if you want to step in an ancient world.
